This project is a family welfare center located in Sejong City which aims to support family functions for women and
children and was planned accordingly so that it is friendly and easily accessible to the users. The low-rise plan which
was in consideration of the women-specialized zone implies a symbolic representation and also makes harmony with
surrounding environment. And the multi-level green space that is extended from the entry garden throughout the
roof-top garden forms a green network of healing space. Also, Zoning plan that takes independency and each of the
generations into account, and the Weaving Corridor that connects each of the welfare functions allows the family
welfare center to promote easy accessibility and lively communication between generations thus being widely open to
people.
Floor plan
The courtyard enables views and allows light to provide a pleasant condition inside and out. Monotonous middle
corridor plan is avoided so that various resting areas are created and these spaces linked with outdoor terraces
promote a vital community. Multi-Purpose auditorium and welfare experience center are located along the road to
activate a lively street and draw people inside. The subsidiary facilities and communication lounge are closely linked
so that the plan functions as a space where welfare becomes a part of daily life.
Elevation
For a warm and lively atmosphere of the family welfare center, environment-friendly materials are used in the elevation.
Weaving Corridor blocks out strong direct sunlight and the curved louvers that represent femininity adds identity to the
family welfare center.
Section
The lower floors are planned so that the subsidiary facilities surround the Weaving Corridor and the welfare facilities
for children/seniors/disabled to ensure safety of the users and activate communication between generations. The
upper floor is programmed to be a more private space for the counseling center for victims of sexual abuse and other
facilities, planned with separate hallways to secure privacy.
