Civility, Return, and Communication

The new Provincial Government Office Complex of Gyungsangbuk-do will be located in Andong City. Andong City is
famous for its long history and heritage tradition. The design of new government office complex focused on the
representation of Korean Confucianism spirit; which is emptying rather than filling. The design concept ‘civility’ is the
culture of scholars who strictly keep tradition and civility. The concept ‘return’ is having the culture meet with the
history. The concept ‘communication’ represents the identity of an open government office that is emptied rather than
filled. The new Gyungsangbuk-do government office building will become a model of other government office buildings
as a new space reflecting such elaborate design concepts.
